Undergraduate Mentorship Program

Our department has started (2014) a program that matches undergraduate majors with Earth Scientists who have gone on to careers outside of academia.  The mentors talk with undergrads about course selection, major/minor pathways, construction of a resume, how to conduct a job search, how to interview etc.

Our mentors are presently employed:

  • Chevron-Bakersfield
  • USGS-Menlo Park
  • Environmental Consultant-Solana Beach
  • Venture Capital—Redondo Beach
  • Insurance—Los Angeles
  • URS Environmental—Anchorage
  • Geothermal Consulting—Los Angeles
  • Aera Energy--Ventura

Please contact our undergraduate advisor, Prof. Josh West (joshwest@usc.edu) for more information about applying for a mentor.
