One-on-One Speaking Practice
Students will be paired with a local teaching assistant for a one-on-one speaking exercise in Chinese only from Monday through Thursday 1 – 2 pm.
During the first week of each program, there will be a language exchange social event for the USC students to meet with the local Chinese students. Each USC student can find his/her language exchange partner(s).
Tai-Chi and Chinese Painting Classes
A weekly Tai-Chi/Chinese painting class by a Tai-Chi Teacher can be offered if the students request.
Chinese Singing Contest
A Chinese singing contest will be held in a karaoke club if the students are interested.
Excursions will take place in 1-2 afternoons or evenings each week. Prospective excursions include trips to the Great Wall, the Tian’anmen Square, the Imperial Palace, the Jingshan Park, the Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven, the National Museum of Chinese History, traditional residential districts, 2008 Summer Olympic venues, a Peking opera performance, Quanqude Peking Duck Restaurant and other authentic restaurants, a teahouse and etc.
Two longer excursions to other cities will respectively take place duringthe first four weeks and the second four 4 weeks.
All trips will be accompanied by the instructors and a professional tour guide, who will guide students in Chinese as much as possible and also can speak English if needed.
