Senior Classical League

The Senior Classical League (SCL) at the University of Southern California is an academic community established to enhance the study of Classics outside the classroom.  We aim to challenge our fellow undergraduates to take learning into their own hands, to become involved thinkers and intellectual contributors, both in Los Angeles and the larger society.  We strive to create an environment on campus that encourages its students to explore their academic curiosities and potentials through independent research projects, cultural excursions, participations in excavations, and study abroad programs.  Additionally, we seek to make dialogue between student and faculty more commonplace.

In the past year, the Senior Classical League has held two successful Classics socials, providing students and faculty the opportunity to fellowship and develop student-mentor relationships.  We have held several informational meetings regarding independent research possibilities, participation in excavations and study abroad opportunities, scholarships to fund such endeavors, and prospects for graduate school.  Our most extended events have been our trips to the Getty Villa in Malibu and Hearst Castle in San Simeon.
