Biographical Sketch

My current research concerns the spatial-temporal dimension of inter-institutional linkages. I investigate the rhythms of everyday life, and their concomitant meanings, as parents and children traverse the institutions of work, family, and school. I ask: How do family members coordinate life together? What does it mean to be busy? What is togetherness? Does the movement through space-time and the negotiated meaning of this movement relate to child outcomes and family well-being? These research questions focus my sociological interests in culture, family, time, inequality, and education.
