Ian Martin was Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of Mission in Libya until October 2012. Secretary-General of Amnesty International from 1986-1992, Martin has also held many senior positions in the United Nations, and was the Vice President of the International Center for Transnational Justice.

Ian Martin, United Nations Special Representative, Libya, will speak on "Conflict Resolution in Libya post-Ghaddafi: The Role of the UN." This is the inaugural lecture of the School of International Relations Peace and Conflict Speaker Series. This speaker series invites practitioners and thinkers who are influential on issues of international peace and conflict to speak at USC. Martin was Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of Mission in Libya until October 2012. Secretary-General of Amnesty International from 1986-1992, Martin has also held many senior positions in the United Nations, and was the Vice President of the International Center for Transnational Justice.
