Biographical Sketch

Kimberley Briesch Sumner pursued her love of languages and people from around the world by obtaining Bachelor’s degrees in both French and psychology from the University of Oklahoma. As a graduate student in the department of Applied Linguistics and Teaching English as a Second Language at UCLA, she developed a strong interest in teaching ESL, obtained her Master’s degree from UCLA in 2004 and has devoted herself to the field of teaching ESL ever since. She’s particularly interested in working with students who are experiencing U.S. culture for the first time and also with students who need to hone their advanced English skills. Before beginning her job as full-time lecturer at USC, she taught at Pasadena City College and UCLA Extension. Kimberley is originally from the state of Oklahoma but has traveled to various places in the world including France, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and China. She loves her busy life in Los Angeles because there is always something culturally exciting to do. In her free time she enjoys going out with friends, watching movies, and surfing the internet.
