Summary Statement of Research Interests

Urban history, urban landscapes, and community planning around health and policing are Professor Sloanes primary research and teaching interests.
 

Research Specialties

(Ph.D., Syracuse University, 1984) Professor, School of Policy, Planning and Development: Urban culture in America, especially rise of the shopping mall & its influence on urban space; history of medicine, especially HIV/AIDS & hospital design; cultural attitudes toward mourning, dying & death; history of cemeteries.
