Description of Research

Summary Statement of Research Interests

My research is focused on topics related to the modelling, estimation, control, and optimal design of systems governed by infinite dimensional systems, and in particular partial differential equations. We develop and analyze numerical approximation methods and efficient computational algorithms for both local and global optimization. Most recently we have been studying the application of these techniques to the development of a data analysis system for passive and non-invasive alcohol biosensor, to the adjoint method based optimal design of nano-scale layered quantum electronic devices, to the development of data assimilation techniques for a global assimilative model for the ionosphere, and to the development of intelligent methods for the manufacture of advanced semiconductor devices.
