Description of Research

Summary Statement of Research Interests

Professor Melnick's interests in health care span the United States and the world. His early work resulted in the development of the first hospital market-level data base in the United States, used to evaluate the effects of market-based pro-competition policies. His current work focuses on the structure, function and effects of managed care, and to disseminate new knowledge to improve the performance of healthcare systems.
