Biography

A graduate of UC Berkeley and USC, Matt Manson is an Associate Professor of Writing Instruction and a creative writer. His creative work includes novels and screenplays in a variety of genres and approaches. His scholarly interests include American Modernism, philosophy, science fiction, gender relations, war and criminality in American culture. He is currently represented by Caliber Media Group.

    • Letters of Recommendation. I continue to write letters of recommendations for graduate school and dual and progressive degree programs for writing students. I write on average about thirty letters a year., 2015-2016
    • Capstone Mentoring. For the last two years, I have been mentoring Critical Studies majors through their final capstone projects, so far two feature length screenplays. It has required the development of a semester-long screenwriting tutorial. , 2014 – 2015
    • Teaching Observations. As part of the mentoring, merit review and promotional committee responsibilities, I have conducted numerous teaching observations for colleagues., 2014-2015
    • Judge for the Writing Program Writer’s Conference Creative Writing Category., Spring 2015
    • Chaired a panel discussion at the English Department’s annual Conference.
