Summary Statement of Research Interests
|
|
Professor Fischer researches sedimentary geology, paleontology and earth history. Specifically, he studies a seeming 32-million-year cycle for episodes of massive volcanism and a 27-million-year cycle in which the diversity of life seems to peak. He has also been involved in research into the numerous episodes of mass extinction recorded in the Earth's geological record.
