On Tuesday, January 20, 2009, about 50 faculty and graduate students assembled in USC’s Hedco auditorium to share a moment in history as the first African American president of the United States was sworn into office. Two large screens boomed with the excitement of more than a million people gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The audience focused on the historic event and participated in an enlightening group discussion afterward headed by local scholars: Robin D. G.
