Testimonies from Gang Memembers

The following are interviews taken from the streets of Los Angeles. The first gentleman we interviewed is a 28 years old father of four.  He explains in the following set of interviews how and when he joined the notorious gang that is known by the name of 18th Street.  He also unselfishly shares his personal experiences with us which gives us a better understanding of life as a gang member in Central Los Angeles.  We have discussed with him as to how Homies Unidos can be helpful to him and we look forward to seeing him get proper help from the organization.

The following is an interview of an African American gang member whom we found by appointment. His real name is undisclosed.  Instead, he has decided to refer to himself with a different name.  His interview is a very good example of honest hearted gang members that Homies Unidos is eager to help. The gang member himself testifies how much help he needs in directing himself in the right path of a drug free and violence free life.
This particular gang member also indicates that he suffers from a mental illness that he believes is caused by his association with gang members and his exposure to violent acts and fatal drugs. He has stated that he would be glad to receive help for his mental condition and Homies unidos is an organization that also provides help for psychologically damaged gang members who are determined to lead a better life away from gang affiliation.
