Bachelor of Science in Human Biology

The section of Human and Evolutionary Biology within the Department of Biological Sciences oversees the Human Biology (B.S.) at USC. This degree is designed for students seeking a focused course of study in human applied physiology, biomedicine, nutrition & metabolism, and/or human evolution.

Students will complete a general core (24 units) of fundamental coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, and math. From there, they will select one of four “tracks” (20 units) in the following areas of emphasis: Applied Physiology, Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition and Metabolism, or Human Evolutionary Biology. An additional 16 units of coursework is required from an extensive list of restricted electives or courses comprising any of the other tracks.

Human Biology (B.S.) is an excellent option for students pursuing careers in medicine, physical therapy, dentistry, nursing, nutrition, kinesiology, biomechanics, human evolution, primatology, evolutionary biology, etc.
