A student who graduates with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Archaeology at USC will have achieved these learning objectives:

  • Recognize the material foundations of human experience and the unique possibilities offered by archaeology for understanding humanity across time and space.
  • Gain insight into cultures other than one’s own and develop historical perspectives on the contemporary world.
  • Possess an awareness of ethical issues inherent in archaeological research.
  • Be able to gather and synthesize information from diverse, usually fragmentary, and often ambiguous data sources.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of key theoretical and methodological trends in archaeology.
  • Develop critical abilities through discussions, debates, and the evaluation of alternative perspectives on and interpretations of archaeological data.
  • Write and speak clearly and persuasively in communicating ideas about archaeology to various communities and audiences.
