ALI Summer Session
The ALI offers a summer session for those students who are in the U.S. and are legally qualified to enroll in classes. Qualified students who are concerned that their English language proficiency might be inadequate for the purposes of studying in English are strongly advised to take classes at the ALI in the summer. By taking English language classes in the summer, students will be better prepared to meet the challenges of their academic course work in the fall. Also students may be able to complete their required English language classes before the regular academic year begins, and then be able to concentrate all their efforts on their major studies in the fall semester.
There are other advantages to taking ALI classes in the summer. The classes tend to be smaller than in the regular academic year and students get more personal attention. The atmosphere on campus is also more relaxed and students get an excellent opportunity to comfortably familiarize themselves with the university and campus life. The average student is required to take about 6 units; however, it could be more or less than this depending on your current level of English proficiency. Students who wish to participate will need to take the International Student English (ISE) examination before classes start.
