My name is Katherine Montgomery, and I’m a sophomore Creative Writing major from the New York Metropolitan Area (what people from New Jersey say when they’re trying to avoid the reactions they get from people when they say they’re from New Jersey). I’m also a double major in Public Relations and am currently working towards a minor in Harp Performance.
Besides being an Ambassador, I’m a Program Assistant at the Joint Educational Project, our school’s largest service learning initiative that sends thousands of USC students out to teach in local schools every year. I also work as a photographer for the Daily Trojan (look out for me down on the field during games!) and am a member of Delta Gamma sorority.
It was definitely a big adjustment moving from one coast to the other, but the weather sold me right away; during my freshman year, it rained only four times. I’m always out and about in LA in my free time checking out concerts, museums, and best of all, food. I never thought I could find a music scene as vibrant as that of New York’s, but there are really incredible and historic venues all over and it’s been really fun scoping out an entirely new city. When I’m not exploring, I’m reading, writing away at my typewriter, playing music, poring over takeout menus, hanging out with my roommates by our pool (yes, our apartment has a pool!), or wishing I had a dog.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask! Fight on!
