Howdy! My name’s Caleb McCracken. I’m a freshman who came here from Atlanta, so I’m more than willing to talk about my experiences coming from the opposite coast! My current major is Philosophy, Politics and Law, but I’m almost positive I’m going to add a Spanish major. At the same time, I’m also pretty positive I’m mostly Undecided. I’ll figure it out eventually, right? Right!

I’ve only been here for about 2 months, but it already feels like home! There’s always tons of events going on, the people have all been super friendly, and it’s insanely easy to get involved! Other than being part of the *amazing* Dornsife Ambassadors program, I’m involved in the Yoga Club, the USC Competitive Cheerleading Squad, and the pre-law fraternity (Phi Alpha Delta). They’re all super flexible with my class schedule, and are always tons of fun. Well, getting up for 6:30 AM cheer practice can get tiring every once in a while!

I’m really enjoying my classes so far- I’m taking a Spanish literature/media class, a class about Mexican culture change, a class called “Literature and the Passions”, and writing class that accompanies the Literature one. They all demand a lot of preparation and studying, but the professors have all been helpful and engaging, and really make each class interesting.

I’m still getting somewhat acclimated to the LA transit system, so I haven’t gone exploring outside of campus all that often. However, I’m definitely excited to explore more in the future, and I can’t wait to take advantage of (and blog about) all of the great opportunities Los Angeles has to offer!

Toodle-loo,

Caleb McCracken
