But really… today was an awesome first day back. Second semester feels good. Break was the perfect length, I’m well rested from finals (thank God) and reeeady to get back to my beloved school!
No classes before 11 on 3/5 days of the week also makes this semester a bit sweeter
To start the semester off right, I had an interview today as part of my application process for the newly introduced VAW program here at USC (Wish me luck!)
VAW stands for volunteers around the world. It started about 5-6 years ago, and so far has only included UC-Berkeley college students, but this year it has expanded to seven more universities including USC ! So exciting. First goal is a two week trip to Guatemala to volunteer and set up medical clinics during the month of May.
This trip sounds SO great, especially since I did a very similar trip to Ecuador the summer after my senior year of high school that was more oriented towards building schools and cafeterias. But being the pre-med nerd that I am, I can’t wait to learn more while helping people in a hands-on experience! And I’ll be improving my Spanish while I’m at it (I should probably start with actually learning Spanish… baby steps).
The best part is that this organization is just starting up, so us students can guide it in whatever direction we want! So exciting to be a part of the beginning of something so beneficial to students and people in need around the world!
Anyway classes were great too, but that was definitely an exciting part of the day (: I’ll probably update you all about classes at the end of the week… you know, give you the full on version!
And as a bonus, here’s a picture of Atitlan, Guatemala, where the trip is going to be!
Have a great rest of the week!
