USC performances

SO this week has been really exciting, firstly because I didn’t have any exams (Woohoo!), second because I got to go to a bunch of USC performances and it was awesome!

The first one I went to was set up by Visions & Voices, and it was the Alonzo King LINES ballet performance.Visions and Voices is USC’s university-wide arts and humanities initiative that brings forth performances of all kinds to the USC campus so that students get to enrich their lives a bit more right here on campus. It’s absolutely amazing!  This time it was Alonzo King’s famous San Francisco ballet. The performance was two hours long, and it was in Bovard Auditorium, USC’s most famous venue. After the actual performance, Visions & Voices set up a Q&A session and a reception with delicious food. It was very, very exciting.

Then last night, I had the pleasure of attending Breakthrough Hip Hop’s showcase event. Breakthrough is one of USC’s many dance groups. It has 35 people in it, and was started by students back in 2006. Students that are now alumni returned last night to come see the show! It was awesome to see just how close the group is, it truly is more like a family. Along with Breakthrough, there were several guest appearances from other dance groups from USC, as well as one dance group that was started by USC alumni. It was absolutely stunning, and made me really miss the days when I used to dance ballet.

I can’t wait to see what else comes up in the next few weeks on campus!

Hope everyone goes to check out a V&V events AT LEAST once. If you don’t, you’re missing out on life!
