Portfolio

In the second half of the semester students will begin to prepare their course portfolio.  This portfolio has two components, the first consisting of substantial revisions of two papers. The instructor will announce which of the five writing assignments will be eligible for submission in the course portfolio, and will assist in selecting, analyzing, and revising the two papers.

Reflective revision is concerned not with correcting errors but rather with reflecting upon the conceptual quality of a paper and considering how its ideas might be augmented and improved.  As such, reflective revision is particularly important in terms of the revisions students will complete for their course portfolio, but they should make sure that reflective revision is part of their writing process on any writing project.  The Writing Center can be particularly helpful when students undertake this sort of revision.
